Our Story
Faraway Kennels is an established boarding kennel, located on 12 acres of beautiful countryside in Hampstead, MD. Lisa Barrett-Hardy has owned & operated Faraway Kennels for over 34 years. She received a degree in Animal Science & worked for a veterinarian for 9 years before taking over Faraway Kennels in 1989. She believes in loving, quality care to ensure that every pet who visits is happy & healthy. Lisa lives on the property with her husband Lee along with kennel manager Rebekah and her partner Nicholas. There is always someone on the premises overnight to ensure the safety and well-being of our kennel guests.

Our Expertise
Our team consists of experienced caregivers who have a deep understanding of canine behavior and needs. We have the expertise to provide specialized care for pets with unique requirements such as special diets, medications, and behavioral issues.
All Inclusive Boarding Packages
Our kennels are climate controlled and have access to individual 16ft long outdoor runs.
Single Dog Kennel
Includes individual dog boarding for the day. 2 daily outdoor playtimes or nature walks per day. Every guest receives one of our complimentary treats before bedtime!
Double Dog Kennel
Boarding for two dogs, sharing the same kennel. Includes 2 scheduled playtimes or nature walks per day, for each dog. Both canine companions get a bedtime treat!
Trio Dog Kennel
Includes boarding for three dogs, sharing the same kennel. 2 scheduled playtimes or nature walks daily, for all three dogs. All guests receive a bedtime treat!

Additional Walks & Playtimes
Playtimes take place in our fenced area for off leash fetch & fun! Nature walks are leashed leisure time to sniff and stroll around our countryside property.
Pet Wash
Our kennel attendants will give your pet a warm bath and send them home smelling fresh and clean!
Nail Trims
We will handle your pup's paws with care, and trim those nails to a healthy length.
Bath and Nail Trim prices vary based on size of pet & necessary time required for the task.

Finding Faraway Kennels
We are located on Lower Beckleysville Rd just before it merges with Mount Carmel Rd. If your GPS attempts to lead you into the neighborhood on Wynside Lane, it is incorrect. When you arrive, please drive slowly down the driveway. Being cautious of the woodland animal life, kitty cat crossings and exiting vehicles.
At the end of the driveway you will reach a circle. Please pull into the right side of the circle and park your car next to the hanging Faraway Kennel sign. The stone pathway will lead you to the kennel entrance. We will greet you as quickly as possible. Please do not enter without an attendant.
